Two mountain-view homes in Clyde, and how to tell them apart

What we have in Clyde right now
Wander has two homes listed in Clyde, and both of them list a mountain view along with a forest view. Each is a single-family residence with one bedroom, sleeping two. So if you're searching for a mountain-view rental in this particular corner of Haywood County, the choice in front of you is a pair of small houses built for a couple rather than a big cabin for a group.
The town sits about twenty-three miles west of Asheville, close enough that you can be downtown in half an hour and far enough that the drive back at night is dark and quiet. Waynesville, Lake Junaluska, Canton and Maggie Valley are all a short run from here. The Blue Ridge Parkway runs through the county for forty-six miles, and a slice of Great Smoky Mountains National Park sits on the far side.
The two homes are close cousins on paper. The clearest separator is that one of them, this Clyde residence, lists a balcony. The other, the second Clyde home, lists a hair dryer, which sounds trivial until you're packing light for a long weekend.
The things both homes have in common
Almost everything, in fact. Both list mountain and forest views, air conditioning and heating, free parking, WiFi, and a kitchenette with a mini fridge, kettle, coffee maker, dishes, silverware, pots and pans, cooking basics and spices. Coffee and tea are listed at both. Bed and bath linens, shampoo, conditioner, body soap and shower gel are on both lists too, along with a smoke-and-carbon-monoxide setup, a fire extinguisher and a first aid kit.
A kitchenette with a mini fridge is worth reading literally. It's set up for making breakfast, reheating what you brought back from Waynesville, and keeping a bottle of wine cold, not for cooking a holiday dinner for eight. For two people who plan to be out on the Parkway most of the day, that's usually the right amount of kitchen.

Both homes list a fire pit, a BBQ area, outdoor seating and an outdoor dining area, which is more of the point here than any indoor feature. Mountain evenings in Haywood County cool off fast once the sun drops behind the ridge, and the pattern we see is people eating outside, then moving to the fire pit and staying there far longer than they planned.
The balcony at the first home gives you a second place to sit with a coffee that isn't at ground level. If mornings outside with the mountains in front of you are the reason you're booking Clyde at all, that's the one to look at first.
Days out are easy to fill from either address. The Dahlia Ridge trail system runs three and a half miles across the Haywood Community College campus, and one branch of it reaches a sycamore grown from a seed that flew on Apollo 14. Under ten minutes away, the paved loop around Lake Junaluska is a bit under four miles with mountains on the far shore, flat enough to walk after dinner. On the Parkway, Graveyard Fields has a short walk down to the lower falls and a longer loop to the upper one, and Waterrock Knob climbs a little over half a mile to a view that goes on for miles. Max Patch, further out, is a mile-and-a-half loop along the Appalachian Trail. Waynesville has the Scotsman Public House half a block off Main Street if you want dinner in town.

Check these before you commit
Views are listed as amenities, not as photographs, so ask us what the mountains actually look like from your particular house before you book: which windows and which outdoor spaces face the ridge, and how much of the forest sits between you and it. That's a question we can answer per property, and it matters more in Clyde than the amenity list does.
The other things worth confirming for your dates are current rates, minimum stay, check-in arrangements and cancellation terms, plus the exact address and how the driveway handles weather if you're coming in winter. Two people, one bedroom: if your plans grow to four, these are not the homes for that trip, and it's better to know now.

Message us with your dates and which of the two you're leaning toward. Every Wander home is personally vetted for design, location and comfort, and concierge support runs through the app around the clock, so a question at ten at night about where to eat in Waynesville gets an answer.
